Edmund Rice College engaged us to work on their new website, which in turn led to some new branding elements such as fonts and a new graphic style for the College. The brief was to create a website to represent the College and their expansive curriculum on offer. The website was to act as the main mode of communication to prospective parents as well as current parents and students, highlighting the need for the website to be very flexible to different messaging with the ability to create custom landing pages for certain calendar events throughout the year. Concurrently with the design and development process for the website, we worked with the College to produce an online newsletter feed to be linked to their new site, allowing online news directed to current parents to be published and displayed in an archive.
Goals
A key goal for the project was to produce a highly flexible website with robust features able to withstand various types and formats of content. We addressed this by devising a comprehensive library of reusable components such as link blocks, download blocks, gateway sliders, each of which with highly-considered edge cases which were worked through based on the College’s needs. As the project goals changed slightly throughout the life cycle of the project, we were able to adapt the website design using the flexible structure to best suit the messages the College wanted to communicate.
